Old or obsolete motor?
Don't assume an old motor means you need a completely new garage door. Rodney Garage Door Services specifically works with older systems and replacement remotes, including older Merlin 2500, Dominator and Ahi TRV 300 systems.
Before buying a new motor: Have the complete door and opener checked. A door that is out of balance, dragging or damaged can make a replacement motor work harder than it should.
Remote not working?
- Check the remote battery
- Try another working remote if available
- Check whether the wall button operates the door
- Look for signs of interference or intermittent operation
- Check whether the opener has power
If the wall button works but the remote does not, the problem may be the remote, programming or receiver. If neither works, the opener itself may need attention.
When should a motor be replaced?
Replacement can make sense when an opener is old, unreliable, unsafe, uneconomical to repair or when important parts are no longer available.
But replacement is not automatically the answer. A worn gear, receiver, chain or other component may be repairable. We can explain the options so you can make an informed decision.

Yes. Unwanted or “ghost” opening can have several causes, including remote interference, receiver faults or control-system issues. The system should be checked rather than simply replacing the remote.
